In fact, in developed countries such as Europe, the United States and Japan, there are many large companies specializing in the production and development of various types of wiring harness cable ties. Although the wire harness tie is a small product, its importance cannot be ignored. The main function of the wire harness tie is to integrate, fix and arrange the wire harness. If the quality of the wire harness tie is not good, it will become loose or broken during use. At least, the wire harness will be entangled, affecting the appearance and product image; at the worst, the circuit will short-circuit and catch fire, the aircraft will fall to the ground, and the car will be destroyed and killed. Therefore, companies that attach importance to product quality are often very rigorous in the selection of wire harness tie.



First, the choice of materials


When selecting wire harness tie, the application occasion should be considered first, mainly factors such as temperature and light. The wire harness tie of the general tie company uses nylon as the raw material, which has the characteristics of a wide applicable temperature range and corrosion resistance. Nylon tie has the characteristics of fast binding, good insulation, self-locking and fastening, and easy use. Different ingredients are added during the production process to make the product suitable for different occasions. In places where the temperature requirements of the car are not high, such as inside the car, we can choose general tie ties of -40-85℃. However, in the engine compartment, there are certain temperature requirements for the cable ties of the wiring harness. Generally, we choose cable ties with a temperature of -40-105℃. At this time, heat-resistant materials need to be added.

Second, determination of the minimum tensile strength


The minimum tensile strength is the key to selecting cable ties because it reflects the maximum load that the cable ties can bear.

The inspection of the tool is not as simple as it seems. It is very important to comply with the standard inspection procedures and keep the inspection conditions consistent, such as the size, cross-sectional area and moisture content of the cable ties. If different cable ties and/or different inspection conditions are used, it is easy to produce two different test results.

Usually the cutting speed, the position of the tool and the cable tie, the wear of the tool wear parts and the state of the cable tie play an important role in determining the tensile strength. Therefore, we must point out that the data we provide can only be used as a guide value for our reference. These data cannot be simply copied into practice. If the tension value must be recorded or meet the specifications, we recommend using a tensile gauge to adjust the tool. In principle, half of the minimum holding force of the cable tie should be used as the tensile strength.


The minimum tensile strength (also referred to as the minimum unlocking force) is the minimum force that the cable tie can withstand before it is damaged. The size of this force can be determined by using threaded cable ties. Please use the following formula to calculate the correct tool tensile strength:

Third, form selection


Most of the fixation in the wire harness is done with cable ties. The function of the cable tie is to tighten the wire harness and fix it firmly and reliably to the body sheet metal holes, bolts, steel plates and other parts.


I will not say much about ordinary wrapping cable ties. I will talk about sheet metal clamp cable ties: clamp round hole type cable ties, clamp waist round hole type cable ties, clamp bolt type cable ties, clamp steel plate type cable ties, etc. The round hole type cable tie is mostly used in places where the sheet metal is relatively flat and the wiring space is large and the wiring harness is smooth, such as in the cab. The diameter of the round hole is generally 5-8mm; The waist round cable tie is mostly used for the thicker trunk or branch of the wire harness. This type of cable tie cannot be rotated casually after installation. It has strong fixed stability and is mostly used in the engine compartment. The hole diameter is generally 12*6mm. 12*7mm; The bolt type cable tie is mostly used in places where the sheet metal is thicker or uneven and the wiring harness is irregular, such as the firewall. The hole diameter is generally 5mm, 6mm; The steel plate type cable tie is mainly used at the edge of the steel sheet metal to clamp the sheet metal, so that the wiring harness transitions smoothly and prevents the edge of the sheet metal from cutting the wiring harness. It is mostly used in the wiring harness and rear bumper in the cab. The sheet metal thickness is generally 0.8-2.0mm.
